Par Terre
2017

Par Terre is a performance with two people who mimic the activities on a screen. The performers throw themselves to the floor and seem to produce a self-containing resistance, maybe because of the lack of physical contact between them. The reference to sport is clear and it looks like wrestling – but not quite. By using a sport setting, Par Terre asks how rules and structures can be applied to allow for a way of performing eroticism. How does this erotic element relate to submission and dominance? And how can binaries in power dynamics between audience and performer be undermined?
